The Shaffer Family Foundation would like to highlight each of the Beneficiaries for The 3rd Annual Rally for Our First Responders which will take place on Saturday, June 1, 2024 (rain date is Sunday, June 2, 2024).
We have asked each of the Beneficiaries how they will make use of the money that will be raised and donated to them from the Rally for Our First Responders.
Milton Fire Department Inc. Sta. 85 is located at 116 Front St., Milton, DE.
Johnny Hopkins, Fire Chief said they are currently working on the specifications for a new straight stick ladder truck. The price tag is at $2.0 milionl with all necessary equipment on board. They have delayed the order until they are in a better spot financially ....and/or....secured donations or additional grants or funding to offset a large portion of that cost.
They hope to get a capital campaign initiated in the near future....their current ladder is a 1994 and has experienced multiple mechanical issues and has spent a great deal of 2023 in the maintenance shop.
Once they place an order for a new unit, the delivery time is currently about three years out.
