Cape park’s Tour de Friends highlights bike trails

May 14, 2023

The Friends of Cape Henlopen State Park’s second annual Tour de Friends took place May 6 on the the park’s trails. Cyclists of all ages had their choice of routes to complete a scavenger hunt. Following the ride, the Delaware Department of Transportation and Sussex Cyclists conducted a bike safety rodeo for children. Lunch was provided by La Vida Hospitality restaurant Crooked Hammock.

The Friends are a major partner and fundraiser for the park. Among the numerous programs, events and activities they support include maintenance of the park’s trails, selling park merchandise, operating the Borrow-A-Bike program, providing support for the Thatcher Fund for educational programs, helping with the Hawk Watch program and sponsoring several fundraisers throughout the year, including the annual Chocolate Festival.

The Friends played a key role in the construction of a new park playground and renovation of the park’s disc golf course. For more information, go to friendsofcapehenlopenstatepark.org.
