The Cape baseball team lost its second consecutive game with a 4-1 loss to Sussex Central April 23 at Sports at the Beach in Georgetown.

Cape struck first with a booming home run over the left-field fence by Trey Hitchcock in the top of the third inning quieting down the Central dugout.

But the Golden Knights were able to get spirited again as they plated three runs in the bottom of the inning. They got an insurance run across in the fifth inning to seal the deal in the Northern Division rivalry.

“We played well,” said Cape coach Ben Evick. “Osiah Kelley was extremely good on the mound for [Central]. We got some hits but couldn’t string anything together to produce anymore runs. Brad [Marks] was very good on the mound again, and Jacob Smith did a tremendous job getting out of a tough situation without allowing much.”

Marks struck out six batters. Smith sat down two.

Brady Kosc and Gage Joseph also had hits for the Vikings.

Kelley went the distance on the mound for the Knights, giving up three hits while striking out 10 batters.

The Golden Knights are 11-0 while the Vikings move to 10-2.
