Community Bank cuts ribbon on expanded Lewes branch

June 13, 2019

Community Bank of Delaware hosted a community celebration of about 250 people May 28 to commemorate the opening of its expanded Lewes branch.

The branch at corner of Kings Highway and Route 1 more than doubled in size, now boasting about 9,000 square feet for a growing staff focused on the needs of the growing area.

“Rehoboth, Lewes, Dewey, these communities are growing so fast,” said Alex Pires, chairman and CEO. “We need more banking service for people.”

Community Bank opened in an old gas station at the same location in 2006. They opened a second location in Rehoboth Beach in 2007.

Pires said plans are in the works to build a new Rehoboth location next to Bluecoast restaurant directly across Route 1 from its existing building. The new building will have a modern look with a smaller, wider, flatter building to fit in with the environment. He expects to break ground in August with a June 2020 opening targeted.
