Dances are key to Women’s Fest energy April 25-28

April 20, 2024

Music and dance have always been a big part of CAMP Rehoboth’s Women’s Fest, and this year’s schedule is full of events where guests can kick up their heels and celebrate.

Many events are included in the fest pass, but some require separate tickets. For more information, go to camprehoboth.com/womensfest.

The fun begins at 7 p.m., Thursday, April 25, with the traditional Georgette Krenkel Welcome Dance at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center. The welcome dance honors Georgette Krenkel, a friend to many in Rehoboth Beach, who passed away in 2015. Krenkel’s face will appear on the large screen before DJ Peggy Castle starts the dance in her honor with ABBA’s “Dancing Queen.”

“We look forward to celebrating Georgette’s zest for life and her passion for her friends,” said Kim Leisey, CAMP Rehoboth executive director.

Single women can head to Sips and Singles, a singles tea dance, from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, at Aqua, 57 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach. The cost is $15 for an afternoon of dancing and mingling, and the fun is priceless. DJ Peggy Castle will be playing favorites from every era. Drinks will be available for purchase at the bar.

Guests at the centerpiece of Women’s Fest, the Saturday night premier dance, will groove to the beat of GirlsRoom, a local all-female rock ‘n’ roll band, and DJ Peggy Castle. GirlsRoom consists of drummer Jill Brady, formerly of The Girlfriends, vocalist Barbara Phillips, bassist Terri Brady, and guitarists Lois McDuffee, Glenda Diem and Kathy Nace-Jones, who is returning just for this event. This event is included in the fest pass, and individual tickets are also available. Between the band’s rocking sounds and Castle’s brilliant track list, everyone will be up and out on the floor. Individual tickets cost $25.

CAMP Rehoboth’s Women’s Fest strives to create and maintain an inclusive and accessible environment that empowers all people to participate. To inquire about accessibility needs, contact Hope at Hope@phoenixaccessibilityteam.com.
