Hoodie & Magic Gloves Presentation held at Pallet Village

Westminster Presbyterian Church organized a special event Oct. 28 at the Springboard Pallet Village in Georgetown, where community partners shared gifts of hats and gloves with village residents as the weather turns colder. 

Participating in the Hoodie & Magic Gloves Presentation were Beebe Healthcare’s lab and pharmacy team, Coolspring Presbyterian Church and the Philanthropic Educational Organization. The Champion outlet in Rehoboth Beach provided a 20% discount on purchases to support the work of Springboard Collaborative. Also attending were Pallet Village co-founders Jud Malone and Jeff Ronald, Georgetown Mayor Bill West, Sussex County Councilman Mark Schaeffer, Pastor Eddie Jusino of Westminster Presbyterian Church and Pastor Charles Gilmore of Coolspring Presbyterian Church.

Following a presentation of gifts, breakfast was served to Pallet Village residents.

Residents live in 64-square-foot shelters complete with heat and air conditioning. Showers and bathrooms are provided in separate trailers. Residents receive three meals a day and can participate in a variety of on-site services, including counseling and healthcare.

The shelters are manufactured by Pallet, located in Everett, Wash. The Georgetown village is the first of its kind in the region.

Springboard Collaborative is a nonprofit shelter and housing developer for people experiencing homelessness and those who are housing insecure.
