Lewes BPW response time appreciated

March 29, 2024

As new residents of Lewes, we are still trying to get a handle on the local acronyms. However, after this past weekend, we’ll always think of BPW as the “Best People Working.” In the midst of (yet another) significant rain and windstorm Saturday morning, we suddenly lost power. It turned out to be an isolated event – only two houses were impacted – so we called BPW (aka the Board of Public Works) and got the answering service, to which we reported our issue.

Because we’d already had 2-plus inches of rain by that point and our sump pumps had been working overtime, plus there was a strong chance that we’d need to employ our Shop-Vac in the basement at some point soon, we were extremely nervous when we lost power. Imagine our relief when BPW showed up within 30 minutes of our call – and our new favorite person, Rhett, working solo on a weekend, braved the elements to elevate in the bucket to a nearby pole to restore our power within minutes.

So thank you, Rhett, and thank you, BPW, for providing outstanding service during what was an extremely nerve-wracking time for us. We appreciate you!
