Lewes council should vote against outdoor music

April 2, 2024

A Lewes ordinance to allow outside restaurant music was voted down two years ago, but it has resurfaced. Why is this being brought up again? I see the issue as being disrespectful to the restaurant’s neighbors. The majority of homeowners not affiliated with the restaurants don’t want outdoor noise disturbance, and some restaurants, but not all, do. Lewes has a plethora of terrific restaurants, and my wife and I frequent them all. We are fortunate in that regard, but unwanted noise would be a detriment to our peaceful home life and a distraction to conversation when eating out. I hope Lewes Mayor and City Council will support the local residents over the request from the restaurant special-interest group and vote no to the ordinance for outdoor restaurant music.
