A Millsboro man faces drug charges following a traffic stop Jan. 2 in Georgetown.

Police patrolling at 4:40 p.m. saw a Pontiac Grand Am turn onto Dupont Boulevard northbound from South Bedford Street without signaling, and they pulled the car over, police said. The 31-year-old driver from Lewes was taken into custody after police learned there was an active warrant for the subject from Sussex County Court of Common Pleas.

When the passenger, Anthony Hitchens, 44, got out of the car, police said, they found about 13.45 grams of suspected crack cocaine, about 2.85 grams of suspected powder cocaine, and 149 bags of suspected heroin (1.043 grams) in the car. Hitchens was charged with felony drug charges and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $48,000 cash bond.

The 31-year-old driver was charged with drug paraphernalia and traffic offenses and released on their own recognizance.
