Millsboro man faces drug, weapon charges following Long Neck traffic stop

A Millsboro man faces gun and drug charges following a traffic stop in Long Neck Dec. 23.

A trooper on patrol observed the driver of a Chevrolet Colorado at 5:17 p.m. in the area of Indian Mission Road and Route 24 commit several traffic violations before pulling the truck over, police said.

While conducting the traffic stop, police said they saw a firearm and drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the truck. Police said the driver, Bradley Schneider, 38, also showed signs of impairment, and they found seven baggies of suspected heroin on him. Police said they found numerous empty baggies inside the car, along with a plastic straw with white powder residue, a glass bong, a digital scale, a loaded rifle with obliterated serial number, a loaded handgun and multiple rounds of ammunition.

A computer inquiry revealed Schneider is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. Schneider was taken to Troop 4 and charged with felony possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, two counts possession of a firearm by a person prohibited who possesses a controlled substance, and other gun, drug and traffic violations.

He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $112,640 cash bond.
