March 20, 2024

Milton Historical Society will provide members and special guests with a first look at its new exhibit, Down to the Sea in Ships: How Schooners, Sailors and Shipwrights Transformed Milton, from 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday, April 6, at the museum, 210 Union St., Milton.

This special sneak preview, a week before the museum reopens to the general public, offers a way for members to see their donations hard at work with a rewarding look at Milton’s strong shipbuilding past, history and more. The exhibit will run through December.

“This is a great exhibit to explore Milton’s shipbuilding past and how it still influences our town today,” said DeeDee Wood, MHS executive director. “We will also have a brand-new diorama to see a map of the shipbuilding past that people can interact with in real time, as well as interactive QR codes, artifacts and more.”

The exhibit will open to the general public from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, April 12, and the museum will resume a schedule of regular hours from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday to Saturday, starting Thursday, April 18.

The Milton Historical Society is a nonprofit cultural and educational organization dedicated to increasing public understanding and appreciation of the history of Milton and the Broadkill Hundred. Visit the MHS website, historicmilton.org, for more information.
