We watched the solar eclipse at the beach with lots of others.
All this interest in the solar eclipse makes me think of the good solar energy we will be getting this summer, and all year, which we could be using to make solar electricity. Solar photovoltaic panels are seen on several local homes and businesses.
How about our city leaders get those solar panels on solar canopies over the parking lots? It would provide a cooling shade to the cars parked under the solar carports, make money for the cities, reduce our dependence on carbon fuels that make climate change worse and provide jobs for local businesses.
Here’s what others have done with solar carports – https://yaleclimateconnections.org/2024/04/solar-canopy-over-denver-school-parking-lot-will-provide-energy-to-low-income-families/.
Several houses of worship have solar panels on their roofs. After all, that solar power is heaven sent !
It's time that we see some leadership from the Association of Coastal Towns comprising the Delaware beach towns from Lewes to Fenwick Island. It's time for the ACT to act!
