A sense of community

May 12, 2023

There is an undeniable sense of community here in the Cape Region. Despite tremendous growth over the past couple of decades, we have maintained a connectivity that is normally reserved for small-town America.

Two Cape Gazette projects — one recent and one coming up this weekend — highlight how the cooperation of local businesses, service organizations and individuals can deliver commendable benefits directly to the area in which we all work, live and play.

In partnership with the Lewes-Rehoboth Rotary Club, the Cape Gazette recently published the 2023 edition of Great Walks & Trails. This free booklet encourages everyone to increase their outdoor recreation and is a comprehensive guide featuring all of the public trails in Sussex County. In addition, all the profits of this publication are used to fund the Lewes-Rehoboth Rotary Club scholarship program and other community needs.

This Saturday, the Cape Gazette will host the inaugural Cape Gazette Run and Fun Fest here at our building in Nassau Commons. Partnerships with more than 50 local businesses and organizations — in the form of donations, sponsorships and volunteers — will provide a free-admission event featuring kids’ activities, live music, food trucks and more for everyone to enjoy. A portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to the Harry K Foundation.

The Cape Gazette is honored to serve this community and would like to acknowledge our partners, readers and contributors for putting their time, money and energy back into the place they call home. Willingness to engage in partnerships of this nature builds connections and trust throughout the community. The return on investment benefits everyone.

Please join us this weekend for an event purposely created to provide an opportunity to engage with your friends, neighbors and fellow Cape Gazette readers. Details can be found at RunandFunFest.com.
