Sussex Gardeners hosts Delaware Federation of Garden Clubs
Sussex Gardeners hosted the Nov. 15 luncheon meeting of the Delaware Federation of Garden Clubs at Kings Creek Country Club in Rehoboth Beach.
There were 115 gardeners, representing 15 of the 20 member clubs. After registration, attendees were offered a light continental breakfast and the opportunity to bid on various gift baskets that were donated by member clubs.
Sussex Gardeners designed the centerpieces, name tags and place cards.
During the business meeting, DFGC President Ginny Cardona reported that her project for her term of office is an initiative to empower schoolchildren to get outside and study environmental issues. She said raffle proceeds will be directed to funding environmental education.
Keynote speaker Steven Price Lea presented “Delaware Botanic Gardens: A Harmonious Blend of Evolution and Care.” Lea is the director of horticulture and educational programming for Delaware Botanic Gardens in Dagsboro.
