Hockey For Haxton Awards and other News

The recently concluded Hockey For Haxton (H4H) scholarship fundraising event has concluded for 2022 with the presentation of a donation for $1000 to Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center in Georgetown, DE. Additionally there were two scholarship awardees: Eve Sekscinski, of Milford, who will play at Coker University in Hartsville, SC in the fall of 2023, and Elise Westbrook, Of Sussex Academy, who will attend the University of Tampa studying in their forensic science program. Both athletes will receive checks for $1400 upon graduation from their high school this spring.

In other news, Delaware Shore is proud to announce that one of their former athletes and a member of the De Shore coaching staff, Madi Cook, has accepted a full time coaching position with Texas Pride located in Houston, Texas. Madi is already on location and working for the Texas Pride Field Hockey Club. 

The Delaware Shore indoor league has passed the mid-point of the winter indoor leagues and in the Elementary Division, the Belmont Abbey team has the top record followed by Queens, Mt-Olive and Coker. Bryn DiStefano (Mt-Olive) leads the division with 5 goals. In the Middle Division, McDaniel is on top with Salisbury, Swarthmore and F&M close behind. Talia Sierra (Swarthmore) and Ellis Hay (McDaniel) both have 3 goals to lead the scoring in the division. All games are played at Mariner Middle School on Sunday with a start time of 12:30 for the elementary division.

Registration is currently open for the summer training and summer league which will again be held on Monday and Wednesday at Champions Stadium of Cape Henlopen HS beginning on June 5th. This summer, addition training will be scheduled for the elementary division athletes after their games each evening.
