Cape boys’ lax uses late run to put away Caesar Rodney 17-6

The Cape boys’ lacrosse team won a crucial Henlopen Conference game at Caesar Rodney April 16 by a score of 17-6, closing out with an 8-0 fourth-quarter crooked number. 

Cape is now 5-2 on the season and hosts Dover at 5:30 p.m., April 19, at Legends Stadium. There is no JV game. 

The Riders fell to 5-2 with losses to Salesianum and Cape Henlopen.

Goal scorers for Cape were Burke Healy and Anderson Smith each with three; Jack Schell, Evan Burris, Brenner Short and Hank Anderson with two apiece; and Braddock Smith, Jake Hutchison and Mike Guenther each with one goal.   

Eleven of Cape’s 17 goals were assisted, including Schell with four, Guenther with three, and Anderson Smith, Braddock Smith, Jake Huss and Mason Jack with one apiece. 

Mason Trench had 10 saves in goal.  

The Riders’ goals were scored by Tanner Smith with four, and single goals from Julius Timmons and Parker Smith. 

Dylan Bennett had eight saves in goal.
